Mark Colgan
ACOUSTIC UNDERGROUND CONCERT SERIES PRESENTS:
Mark Colgan
Saturday, July 3rd, 8:00pm
Mark started playing in the London folk clubs at the age of seventeen: playing among artists such as John Renbourn, Bert Jansh,
and Davy Graham. He made his first album in the late sixties. Mark´s career since then has focused on writing music and songs for
other artists. His songs have been recorded by various bands and he has also written dozens of soundtracks for radio and
television programs. His songs and guitar arrangements for example were used in the film ´Extremes´ and released as a soundtrack.
Mark´s passion for many years has been arranging, and interpreting traditional English folk songs through the beautiful sound of his Martin D45VR guitar.
Mark´s latest CD, ´Begone Dull Care´ was produced by Mark´s son, Maclane Colston and is a beautifully interpreted collection of English folk ballads. Maclane Colston is also a celebrated hammer dulcimer player who has had many appearances on radio and
television in England. Mark says that three years of hard work went into the making of this latest album: "I´ve been wanting to
go back to my folk roots for many years and this will be the first album of many".
This Acoustic Underground will be the first of many presentations of Mark´s music in the USA.
